Star catalogs listed here fall into several categories, as follows:
  • those produced from observations made at the U.S. Naval Observatory

    • Archives of the 6-inch transit circle
    • W1J00 [W650] - the results of the program of observations made with the 6-inch transit circle from 1977 to 1982
    • W2J00 and B1J00 - the results of the program (the International Reference Stars) of observations made with the 6-inch transit circle from 1985-1995 in Washington, DC and the results of the program of observations made with the 7-inch transit circle from 1986-1996 at Black Birch, New Zealand.
    • Twin Astrograph Catalog (TAC) - a new catalog of over 700,000 positions to Mb=11.5
    • USNO CCD Astrograph Catalog (UCAC) - observations and reductions currently under way using the 8" astrograph previously at Cerro Tololo, Chile and now located at Flagstaff, AZ.

  • those produced from either re-measurement and/or re-analysis of data taken elsewhere

    • Washington Double Star Catalog - the compilation of observations of multiple star observations made worldwide, including at USNO
    • CPC2 - the second release of the CPC2 data (Second Cape Photographic Catalogue). This release 2 is based on a complete new plate-by-plate reduction using the Hipparcos Catalogue.
    • Astrographic Catalogue (AC 2000) - the re-analysis of the published measurements of the AC zones
    • The ACT Reference Catalog - the combination of the AC 2000 and Tycho Catalogues for improved proper motions of 988,758 stars
